My son and I had a hard time "connecting" at all. I would say that sometimes the connection is still tenous, although it is growing and blossoming every day. It took a LONG time. For me, it seemed like forever because I wanted him to love me so badly that I couldn't see how much HE was hurting. I remember one mom telling me, "I don't care if you don't love him right now. One day you will. Right now you have to fake it." I know that seems harsh, but that was just it. I DID fake it.
